Kanyashree Prakalpa is a West Bengal Government sponsored scheme. It is a conditional cash transfer scheme launched on1st October 2013, with the basic objective of improving the status and well being of a girl child in the state. The vision is to protect and empower all adolescent girls and support their healthy development by creating an enabling environment for their participation and meaningful contribution to society by discouraging early child marriage and reducing school dropout rate. The scheme provides for financial assistance to unmarried girls, within the age bracket of 13 to 19 years, enrolled in class VIII equivalent and above. This financial support is in terms of annual scholarship of Rs.1000/- i.e, K1, for unmarried girls aged 13-18 years; and a one- time grant of Rs. 25000/- i.e, K2, for unmarried girls turning 18 and engaged in academic/ vocational field.
