WB SCSTOBC Dev And Finance Corporation
The West Bengal Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Development & Finance Corporation started its journey in the year 1981. It was constituted by a State Legislature in 1976 which was subsequently undergone by two amendments in 1980 and 1981. The Corporation was primarily mandated to create an alternative and additional source of income for the target group (here SC and ST) through micro and small economic activities.Subsequently, as amended by the WB Act XXX of 2017, the Other Backward Classes Finance & Development Corporation had been merged with this corporation in the year 2017 and renamed as ‘The West Bengal Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes Development & Finance Corporation’.
The West Bengal Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes Development & Finance Corporation, Jalpaiguri functions as district branch of State Channelizing Agency (SCA) with its head office at Kolkata of National Level Corporations like National Scheduled Castes Finance & Development Corporation (NSFDC), National Scheduled Tribes Finance & Development Corporation (NSTDC), National Safai Karmacharis Finance & Development Corporation (NSKFDC) & National Other Backward Classes Finance & Development Corporation (NBCFDC).
The Corporation offers a bouquet of schemes to the target group (SC, ST, and OBC & Safai Karmachari) to fulfil the mandate of creating an alternative source of income through small and medium economic activities. Finances are made available to individuals or to groups, in comparatively soft terms along with admissible subsidy and margin money.
